The Dept of Transport has just launched the newly expanded Free Travel scheme – which will potentially benefit thousands of people with epilepsy across Ireland, and advocated for by Epilepsy Ireland and the Irish Epilepsy League.

IEL Membership

The IEL is a not-for-profit organisation, a chapter of the ILAE, dedicated to promote education, research and advocacy for people with epilepsy and health professionals dedicated to the care of people with epilepsy in Ireland. You can join if you are a healthcare professional (or in training to become one) involved in the care or research of people with epilepsy in Ireland.

ILAE International Congress Dublin 2023

The International Epilepsy Congress, the biennial international conference of the ILAE, was held in Dublin in September 2023 for the first time since 1997.

The conference was a great success, with speakers and attendees from all over the world. The conference will also be remembered for gloriously sunny weather. Epilepsy Ireland held a number of well attended conjoint public meetings with invited guest speakers.

IGAP

In November 2020, the Seventy-third World Health Assembly (WHA) adopted resolution WHA 73.10 on Global actions on epilepsy and other neurological disorders to develop an Intersectoral global action plan on epilepsy and other neurological disorders (IGAP) in consultation with Member States. The action plan will address the challenges and gaps in providing care and services for people with epilepsy and other neurological disorders that exist worldwide and ensure a comprehensive, coordinated response across sectors.
